Activities at Indabushe

Hiking Trail

HikingThe Indabushe hiking trail is situated in the picturesque Schoemanskloof valley. The short (7km) trail, stretches from the existing guesthouse at the foot of the mountain, passes “klipkraal”ruins through indigenous bush, offering magnificent views over the valley, as well as the Kwena dam at the back of the farm on top of the plateau.

The landscape consists of indigenous savanna vegetation, with a wide variety of indigenous trees, birds and wild small game. The interesting vegetation and fig trees at the “krans” (cliff) is an attraction on it’s own. On top of the plateau one finds grassland with a patch of intruder black wattles, providing some welcome shade to hikers.

The beautiful natural fountain (spring) on to of the plateau is an ideal place to stop for lunch and rest the legs in a quiet environment with a wonderful view over the valley. The difficulty rating is relatively easy – if one can handle the initial fairly steep climb up the mountain – (4.3 out of 10 on the SASREV scale)

The fact that there is a shorter option of only 4.5km will suit the less experienced hiker, however, the full trail has enough to offer to make the hike worthwhile.

As Indabushe is under new ownership, there are many improvements and expansions happening and planned, not the least the hiking trails as due to wild life having been introduced on the farm in various free roaming camps (another new part of Indabushe) certain hiking trails will be in and through the various wildlife camps and the existing trials slightly diverted.

Mountain Biking

For the adventurist cyclist, the route to “Brandwag uitkyk” is challenging one.

For the more relaxed mountain biker, routes along and inside the wildlife camps will be created soon.

Bird watching

We offer bird watching enthusiasts a truly memorable experience. A range of species almost too large to mention. Click here to view some of the birds at Indabushe.

Game Watching

Our animals run free in various camps but we are feeding in the afternoons, this is the ideal opportunity for quests to view the animals at a fairly close range whilst having a sundowner or similar.

The guest house has a magnificent pool to relax in after the activities or to just relax poolside whilst having a magnificent view on the majestic mountain as background.

For groups we offer fun and team building activities such as bow shooting at a target, plank walking, and many fun activities to enjoy.

Future Activities Planned

a Super tube to keep the kids and young and brave at heart busy and fun filled.
Foefie slide and tree-to-tree cables.
Playground with climbing structures for kids.
Many other exciting activities.
